Ramses II the Great, Pharaoh
Under construction --- far from complete! Read with caution.
- Every knee will bow: The temple built by Ramses
at Wadi al-Sebua was converted into a church. The
original carvings were largely retained. R. A. Lobban, Jr.,
writes: "One sees the ironic anachronism on the side walls
of Ramses II making offerings to Christian icons plastered
on the walls some 2,000 years later." [Hist. Dic. Anc.
