Arad

A Canaanite city conquered by Joshua, Arad remained an important centre and military base. A remarkable Jewish temple, resembling both the Temple of Solomon and the Desert era tabernacle, was constructed for the fortress garrison, much as was done in Elephantine on the Nile.
